George Simon Ohm

George Simon Ohm (1789 – 1854). German physicist born in Erlangen, Bavoria. In 1849 moved to the University of Munich.Ohm began to focus his attention on the problem of electricity in 1825. The greatest contribution is Ohm’s law which states that the electric current flowing in a metallic circuitis directly proportional to the total electromagnetic force in the circuit. Ohm’s name immortalized as the SI unit of electrical resistance.

James Clark Maxwell

In about 1860, James Clark Maxwell (1831-1878), a physicist from Scotland managed tofind a link between the problems of electricity and magnetism. The first link is the flow of electric charge (electric current) that can generate a magnetic field around current carrying wires, as described in the Biot-Savart law or Ampere’s law. The second link is the change in magnetic field can generate induced electromotive force, as described inFaraday’s law.
